IAABO Play Book+
4.15.4 Illegal Dribble
This video was developed by IAABO to show the case book in a visual format and help officials learn the rules by seeing them applied.

You, the viewer, can decide how to utilize the video to gain a better understanding of the rules(s) and concepts.

For individuals who want to understand the play situation, the clip contains a title page, case book page, and a "Key Concepts" page that outlines each play situation and the pertinent rules that apply.

Each page will stay on the screen for three seconds.  The viewer can "pause" the video on any page to allow the necessary time to read the information.

If the viewer wishes to go directly to the video clip, simply move the cursor to the nine-second mark of the clip and watch the play.  Can you determine the correct ruling?

The clip will play a second time. This time, the clip will provide a “Play Analysis” and outline the correct ruling and key concepts that apply.

We hope that you will enjoy this educational tool and that it enhances your understanding of the rules.

The Lead's Initial Starting Position in Transition
(IAABO Manual Diagram pg. 24, 93)
The Lead should take an initial starting position (ISP) along the end line, according to player and ball location.

1) When the ball is advancing near the Lead’s sideline, the Lead should be positioned wide at the “A” position.

2) When the ball is advancing in the middle of the court, the Lead should be positioned between the “A” and “B” positions.

3) When the ball is advancing on the opposite sideline, the Lead should “cut the corner” and move directly to the “B” position and be ready for possible rotation once the Trail enters the frontcourt.
