Free Throw Coverage (Co2)

When administering a free throw, the Lead should be positioned off the court in a position where they can observe all players in lane spaces on the farther lane line, as well as the player in the first space on the nearer lane line. The Trail should be positioned halfway between the sideline and nearer lane line extended, where they will observe the free thrower, the players in the top two lane spaces on the farther lane line and the flight of ball.
After the ball is released on the try, both officials are responsible for ruling on rebounding action. The Trail must close down and read the situation. This will improve rebound coverage before the Trail begins transition. Even though both officials are responsible for observing spaces on the opposite lane line before the release of the try, once the ball is released, each official should return to normal rebounding responsibilities on their respective side of basket line.
