Make a Difference, “Blow The Whistle on Cancer”
Where can an official help fight cancer?
On the basketball court. This year, IAABO is joining forces with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the American Cancer Society during the “Coaches vs. Cancer” crusade. Officials can do their part to blow the whistle on this disease which affects too many people. To help, all one needs to do is donate up to 25% of a game fee to this worthy cause. During the week of January 26 - February 1,2009, participating officials will dispaly their committment to the campaign
by using a white or pink whistle that will be provided to him/her once a contribution to the crusade has been made. Please make the court a bit more colorful the week of January 26th - February 1st. Help IAABO show the athletic community how determined we are to “Blow the Whistle on Cancer”. Please make checks payable to: American Cancer Society.  Donations may be made anytime, but must be received no later than January 16th, 2009 to be part of the presentation to be made at the Final Four on behalf of IAABO. Click here to download a brochure.
“Simply Spectacular” - IAABO 2008 FALL SEMINAR - If you did not attend the fall seminar in Eatontown, New Jersey, you missed sessions that were presented with a flair and professionalism.  In addition, demonstrations of IAABO’s latest developments and tools to assist the interpreters, including an updated version of IAABO RefSchool ™, in the task of instructing their members and prospective officials. Evaluation forms indicated that the audiences were pleased with the presentations, in that they were timely, useful and were given by plenty of new faces. The give and take in the video session was terrific and inspired some differences of opinion, some jousting and then finally some agreement.  It was simply a great session.  Click here to view photos taken during the sessions and you can see the interested look on the faces of the audience. You will also see some photos during relaxed moments. The hospitality provided by the New Jersey State Board No. 1 was second to none, outstanding food and drink that never ended. Make plans now to attend the 2009 fall seminar in Cleveland, Ohio, next September.

Message of Support and Appreciation - The IAABO staff salutes the men and women of our Armed Forces! As the final stages of an exciting basketball season ended here in America, thousands of our finest sons and daughters in uniform were called to duty to a far-away land to protectand defend our cherished individual freedoms. With profound national pride, we watched in awe – hour-by-hour – how they conducted themselves with inspired courage, precision, and resolve. Their triumph in battle, although earned with
great personal sacrifice, is our collective victory. And for this, we shall never forget and will forever show our sincere gratitude. Several IAABO members are current or former members of our Armed Forces; and every IAABO member has a loved one or knows of someone that continues to serve our great nation. We are on the same team, so naturally our thoughts were always – and will continue to be – with these dedicated patriots. We at home are extremely proud of their spirit and determination, and look forward in welcoming them back to their home court. Indeed, we have much to be thankful for! God Bless America!
